Youth Business Innovation Challenge (#YouthBizChallengeUG)
The Youth Business Innovation Challenge (YBIC) is an initiative of Rotary Means Business Fellowship Uganda aimed at identifying, nurturing, and rewarding young Ugandans with viable and innovative community and business solutions. The program promotes entrepreneurship, self-reliance, and community development by combining idea screening, capacity building, hand-holding mentorship, and seed funding to help transform promising ideas into sustainable enterprises.
This nationwide initiative targets youth aged 18 to 35 years across Uganda and encourages them to develop innovative solutions that address real community challenges.
A Call to Young Innovators
The Challenge invites Uganda’s young innovators to look closely at the needs within their communities and design solutions that create meaningful social and economic impact.
The Focus of the Challenge
Participants are encouraged to submit ideas that demonstrate:

Innovation with social impact

Concepts that can be prototyped or piloted

Cross-sector solutions, particularly in agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), and renewable energy
Eligibility Criteria
Age Requirement The competition is open to youth aged 18–35 years who are residents of Uganda.
Stage of Innovation Eligible solutions may be at the idea/concept stage, research and development stage, or prototype stage.
Submissions must: • Be original and unique • Address a clearly defined community challenge • Demonstrate potential for scalable impact • Show alignment with Uganda’s national development priorities under Uganda Vision 2040 and the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV).
These national priorities focus on: • Agro-industrialisation • Expansion of oil, gas, and mineral exploitation • Infrastructure development • Human capital development • Strengthening the private sector • Digital transformation
Submission Format • Applicants must complete and submit an online idea application form available at the Rotary Means Business Fellowship Uganda website: www.rotarymeansbusinessuganda.com. • The top 20 applicants will be required to record and submit a two-minute video pitchbefore the public votes for the winners.
Individual or Team Participation • Entries may be submitted individually or in teams of up to three members. • At least one team member must meet the age and residency requirements.
Originality All submissions must be original. Plagiarized ideas or concepts that have previously received awards in other competitions will not be accepted.
Awards and Recognition
Participants will receive a range of benefits including:
National visibility for their ideas
Mentorship and business development support for the top 10 finalists
Awards for the top three innovations
Seed capital of UGX 5,000,000 for the overall winner
The winners of the Youth Business Innovation Challenge will be announced and recognized during the RMB Mega Business Expo 2026, to be held at Speke Resort Munyonyo on April 25, 2026.
